             Slum’s Problem in Jakarta

Jakarta is the capital city of Indonesia. As a capital city Jakarta become very dense city. Many people from other province even fron other country come to Jakarta. Because Jakarta promises success and wealth. As per Government sources, Population of Jakarta in 2014 was 10,075,310 people. The same figure stood at 9.58 million in 2010 census. Thus, indicating a sharp rise in its population every year. Population of Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek Region) is estimated to be 28.5 million in 2010 while it was recorded at 8.2 million in 1970. As per data from Government sources, Greater Jakarta was home to 30,326,103 people in 2014. Greater Jakarta accounts for 11% of total population in Indonesia. From the above data, Jakarta became one of the cities with the fastest economic growth in the world. And also a very dense city. Many slums in Jakarta. Most of the slums around the river and the railroad tracks.

Discuss about slum and flood in Jakarta, is the inter-related problems. Because slum causing flooding and otherwise. Slum problem happen slum problem occurs because of the increasing number of people in Jakarta and the narrowing of housing land for the construction of facilities in Jakarta. The increasing number of people not because the birth rate only, but many of the urbanization come from outside Jakarta to look for work, education, or just come without a purpose to try their luck. However, to date slum problem is something that can not be overcome completely. Although some slum already moved into the apartment, but problems such as urbanization can not be resolved. Every year the population growth in Jakarta was recorded almost 100 thousand people. Added new entrants was highest in 2015, reaching 70,000 people. While in 2014, the number of new arrivals reached 60,000 people. Of these, the newcomers after Eid. However, when coupled newcomers outside after Eid, then it could reach 100,000 people each year. A large number of residents resulted in the narrowing of green land in Jakarta. Lack of water catchment areas resulting in rising waters during the rainy season arrives. Water can not be accommodated caused flooding in Jakarta occur annually. The amount of the urbanization led to the amount of garbage dumped into the river. Inhibition of the stream causes the water rose to the densely populated residential areas.
Some solutions to the problem of slum and flooding is the equalization of infrastructure outside Jakarta. Governments should equalize the means of education, health and employment for rural people. With inadequate infrastructure that people do not have to go to Jakarta to look for work and study. Not only that, the government should also provide jobs for the community outside Jakarta. However, we can not entirely blame the government. People should also be able to create jobs for themselves.
The conclusion is that if all of the facilities and infrastructure in all regions in Indonesia together. People are not going to Jakarta to find work and study. And for the people do not easily tempted by the grandeur of Jakarta. All just a mere mirage. If the problem can be solved equalization eat flood and there will be no slum in Jakarta. It also led to a lack of traffic congestion in Jakarta.
